Ever wonder what Alice felt like floating down the rabbit hole on her way to Wonderland? Or how it was for her to encounter the talking [Cheshire cat] as he took her along surreal corners & told her different stories & wisdom? Ever wanted to, just for a day, detach from reality & slip into the a parallel world to existence & [live like a King]?
What if I told you that a rabbit hole in the form of a standing [house] exists right here in Kuwait? That nor time travel or flight is required to get you there but a few minuted would…
Welcome to Wonderland on Earth
Owned, preserved, & all [HANDMADE] by a lovely Italian lady named [Lidia] who many of you might know her for being the wife of the late artist “Khalifa Al-Qattan“. The ground floor of the house is basically Lidia’s masterpiece. Aside from the breath taking house front and gate, the whole inside of the ground floor is 10x decked in mirror glass, glow in the dark stars & planets, and each room tells its own story. Once you’re taken into the second floor of the house, you will immediately think that you’ve teleported elsewhere. Hard wood floors, glass boxes and several painting on the tangy colored walls; The second story is a tribute to her husband’s art work. The theme: Vibrant [grotesque] surrealism.. It speaks to you & I’m in love with every one of those paintings.
Lidia’s the most magical human you will ever come to meet in your life. Her passion for what you are about to see, and her dedication in keep her magical wonderland in tiptop shape is something that kept me in awe for the most part of the trip. However, I managed to note down a few points about the making of this surreal venue.
[Lidia started her mirror mosaic in 1972. Her project stemmed from the fact that she wanted to “save” the house, and so she turned it into a standing masterpiece. In 1975 everything was done except for the front door, which she kept to show visitors how it all started.]
“One wall takes about 15 days“- Lidia. With that in mind.. Allow me to bring forth a humble bit of this wonder to you, dear reader.
(P.S.: The photos are you about to see DO NOT give The House of Mirrors any form of justice. I highly urge you to go see yourself what gave “amazing” a WHOLE new meaning)
[Upon entering & into the brief orientation room]

Stepping out of the house as we are on our way to leave could have been the saddest moment in that day. I promised to make a return & I almost began to imagine the days running ahead bringing me closer once again to my local wonderland.
